Open Novice Livestock Shows

Guidelines:
Open Novice Club Calf
1. Calves must be born after December 31, 2013.
2. Calves must be halter broke and shown at halter.
3. Calves must be dehorned, vaccinated for blackleg and castrated if appropriate.
4. Health papers are required.
5. Calves can be no more than 50% dairy blood. 
6. No sedatives can be used.
7. Animals will be judged on the Danish System.
8. Participants are encouraged to write Thank You notes to sponsors.
9. Conformation classes will be divided by weight and sex as determined by show officials the day of the show.
10. Showmanship classes will be divided based on the age of the participants as of January 1, 2014. 
11. Participants must not have shown in 4-H/FFA in Pendleton County if they have reached their ninth birthday by January 1, 2014. Participants over 9, must be approved by show chair.
12. Proper attire is required.  Jeans and shirts with collars are encouraged.  Hard soled shoes are required.
13. The decisions of the show officials are final.

 

Open Novice Lamb
1. Lambs must be born after December 31, 2013.
2. Lambs must have current health papers.
3. Male lambs must be clean castrated.
4. Participants must not have reached their ninth birthday by January 1, 2014.
5. Lambs must be slick shorn (1/4” or less)
6. Animals will be judged on the Danish System.
7. Conformation classes will be divided by weight by show officials the day of the show.
8. Champion and Reserve Champion will compete in a final drive for Supreme Champion.
9. Showmanship classes will be divided based on the age of the participant as of January 1, 2014.
10. Proper attire is required.  Jeans and shirts with collars are encouraged.  Hard soled shoes are required.
11. The decisions of the show officials are final.
12. Participants are encouraged to write Thank You notes to sponsors.

 

Open Novice Goat
1. Goats must meet state 4H/FFA youth requirements for breeding animals.  Market goats do NOT have to be KUIP tagged.
2. Showmanship classes will be divided based on the age of the participant as of January 1, 2014.
3. Participants must not have reached their ninth birthday by January 1, 2014.
4. Goats must have current health papers.
5. Animals will be judged on the Danish System.
6. Conformation classes will be divided by weight by show officials the day of the show.
7. Champion and Reserve Champion will compete in a final drive for Supreme Champion.
8. Showmanship classes will be divided based on the age of the participant as of January 1, 2014.

Open Novice Swine
1. Hogs must be born after December 31, 2013.
2. Hogs must have current health papers.
3. Barrows and gilts are eligible for show.
4. Conformation classes will be divided by weight by show officials the day of the show.
5. Champion and Reserve Champion will compete in a final drive for Supreme Champion.
6. Showmanship classes will be divided based on the age of the participant as of January 1, 2014.
7. Proper attire is required.  Jeans and shirts with collars are encouraged.  Hard soled shoes are required.
8. The decisions of the show officials are final.
